Yale Sleep Center Director Quoted in New York Times Article About Sleep Apnea

Medical Director of the Yale Sleep Center, Christine H. Won, MD, MS, was recently quoted in a New York Times article titled, “For Sleep Apnea Patients, a Possible Alternative to Masks”.

The article discusses a study of an alternative therapy for sleep apnea patients who cannot or will not diligently use the standard continuous positive airway pressure, or CPAP, masks. Doctor’s have begun testing a pacemaker-like device implanted in the chest that stimulates a nerve in the jaw, helping to keep part of the upper airway open.
